Parent Coaching

Parent coaching – planning before and after the ‘event’.

Planning the life changes that occur prior to the ‘bundle of joy’ arriving on the scene makes common sense. After all we plan for almost every other change that occurs in our lives -from education, careers, finances etc. so why not look realistically at becoming a parent and all that will ensue.

Just a few of the areas that we look at together, become aware of and plan for are:-

loss of freedom and spontaneity

financial restrictions

lack of ‘me’ time

lack of ‘us’ time

lack of sleep

responsibility

support

And unravell the ‘mystique’ of parenting in ‘Real Talk’. Being prepared for change brings harmony to the relationship and continues to build rather than potentially disrupt.

Individual thoughts and beliefs on how to parent a child may differ considerably from your partners. It is important that you decide, from the outset, how you are going to discipline your child and how you support one another when taking such action. By taking such an approach it has a threefold effect:

1. The child has a clear understanding of what is and is not acceptable

2. It removes confusion and the possibility of ‘play off’ of one parent against the other.

3. It enables parents to work as a team, therefore avoiding disagreements.

The clear parameters that are set from the start will provide the child with a safe and secure environoment in which to develop greater self-esteem and confidence.

And through working together as a ‘team’ it enables you to grow together instead of apart. Remember children do not make a relationship – far from it. They can cause disharmony and, at the worst, cause a break-up in a relationship.

As your Parenting Coach I can help you to develop these and many other useful and effective tools that will make parenting easier and more enjoyable.
